"Lublin Union" by Jan Matejko (1869) Oil painting: 298 x 512cm. |
The subject of the painting is connected with a very important event
in the history of The Republic of Poland. In this painting there is presented
the last phase of the debate in Polish Seym which took place in Lublin
in 1569. There is painted the moment in which union between Poland and
Lithuania was made. It all happened in the Renaissance interiors of the
Castle in Lublin.
The critics were enchanted by wonderfully presented faces and the exact presentation of the details. The painting was exhibited in Paris in 1870 and it brought Matejko a distinction - the Cross of the Legion of Honour. Dariusz Chyrchel has been painting copies for many years. His specialization includes the realistic painting. Now he is presenting the copy the "Lublin Union" on which he had been working for three years. He was concentrated on a thorough presentation of all details and faces not only their images but also emotions. Real size of copy is: 163 x 280 cm |
